HOW to reach the meeting place for the descents on the Tiber
The meeting place for the descent on the TIBER is at Ara Pacis Fountain as located on the map. One of our Guide will wait for you, and you can recognize her carrying a paddle.
A maximum delay of 15 minutes is allowed.
And after the descent?
The raft lands in a different historical district (rione) of Rome: Trastevere.
There are plenty of restaurants, pubs, and bars where to enjoy the historical corner of the city. Furthermore it is a strategic place to continue visiting Rome through Piazza Bocca della Verità, towards the Circus Maximus, the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Palatine.
It is possible to come back to the embarked place riding the sharing bike service from Comune di Roma (the Municipality). It is also possible coming back by bike or by kick scooter through the cycle lane that runs along the same rafting course. Otherwise, another option can be the buses of the public transport.
WHERE we do it
The Tevere stretch in the city center is a perfect spot to watch Rome from an outdoor point of view. This tract is characterized from calm whitewater allow everyone, including families and children, to enjoy a pretty new unique experience, with a couple of exciting surprises…
The navigated stretch is about 4km long, starting from the Ara Pacis Museum, till the former small port Ripa Grande.
HOW we do it
Floating on our river raft, tested to navigate in rough waters, we follow the current of the river.
We provide individual paddles, whitewater helmets, and individual-size life jackets: safety first! The equipment we provide is compliant to standard certification. Our certified Guides are recognized by the Federazione Italiana Rafting, and they will provide all the required information before starting the navigation.
The Tevere activity is about 2 HOURS long in total: from the meeting to the endpoint.
WHO can do it
Everyone from 6 years old, including people without any experience, can participate.
One of our certified Guide will lead you through an unforgettable, and safe, experience.

Medicines (such as Antihistamine, bronchodilator, and so on…) are allow, unless you want/can renounce to them.
Drugs and alcohol are STRICTLY FORBIDDEN. Riverside Roma a.s.d. reserves the right to exclude anyone behaves in a not compliant to safety standards from the activities.
Participation to our activities is under membership subscription to Riverside Roma a.s.d. included in the price of each descent. Membership guarantees the compulsory insurance as per 3.11.2010 law (download).
Minors are allowed to participate under their parents’ or guardians’ authorizations.
WHAT I need to bring?
In the whitewater activities it is very easy to get wet. We recommend you to bring dry clothes, and a pair of hard-soled shoes that can get wet.
You can have your mobile phone in a waterproof bag to take pictures and videos. The rest of your luggage will be stored dry on a vehicle that you can find directly to the arrival point.
For days of intense sunshine, the use of protective sunscreen is recommended.
We can provide silicone waterproof shoe covers*, if you need. They are to be returned at the end of the activities.
* The loan of the shoe covers has a symbolic rental cost of 2 euros. Riverside Roma a.s.d. uses the proceeds for environmental redevelopment projects. Rome and its citizens thank you!
WHEN we do it
Every day from April to November. If it rains, we will enjoy the rain! However, the descents may be cancelled due to severe weather conditions, for safety reasons. Otherwise, normally,
the weather in Rome is mild: autumns with their famous “ottobrate romane” are mild, springs are temperate, and summers are sunny. 😊
Should I know how to swim to practice rafting on Tevere?
It is not necessary. The important is not to be afraid of water.
